Step Back in Time in Downtown Carrollton
An easy drive from our Lake Carolyn apartments is a vibrant destination that invites everyone to "Eat. Shop. Repeat." We're talking about downtown Carrollton, and merchants began forming the square in 1900. Today, the square features unique shops, eclectic restaurants, and exciting entertainment opportunities.
Blooms Candy & Soda Pop Shop
What began as a florist is now an old-fashioned candy and soda pop shop. Blooms features over 800 different candies that span the decades. The owners are friends who enjoy offering a bit of nostalgia and sharing their passion for sweet treats. Reese is often found stocking the coolers, while John boasts that he barely remembers the prices when he's working the register. The selection includes Atomic Fireballs, Sugar Babies, and hot dog gum.
Amici Signature Italian
Amici takes visitors on a culinary journey through Italy. Chef Bartolino Cocuzza comes from a large Sicilian family. His mother taught him how to cook, and he uses the traditional elements of her recipes in his dishes. Chef Cocuzza opened the restaurant in 1991. It achieved his lifelong dream and combines classic elements with traditional ones to create an unparalleled dining experience. Menu offerings include lasagna, risotto, and seafood manicotti.
Plaza Arts Center
A city landmark, the Plaza Arts Center opened in 1949. Built in the Art Deco style, it was originally a theater before becoming home to galleries and a venue for live entertainment. The galleries feature accomplished artists. They work in nearly all mediums and create oil paintings, sculptures and so much more.
For a night of unique entertainment, don't miss a performance by Kraig Parker. He's called a mirror image of Elvis and livens up the stage with his sequins and incredible dance moves.
